NCPC Has Been Given The Powers To Explore Holy Sites — Rev Pam

The Executive Secretary Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Rev Dr Yakubu Pam has said that the Commission had been given the powers to explore Holy Sites around the world.

He disclosed this on 6th January, 2022 at the Victor Attah International Airport UYo, during the airlift of intending pilgrims of Cross River state and Ondo state.

Rev Pam averred that the NCPC Act which established the Commission in 2007 empowers it to explore Holy Sites with good geographical landmarks and biblical references in the world  which explains why the Commission has extended its Pilgrimage scope to Rome, Greece, Jordan and is already planning to explore Holy Sites in Turkey as  soon as possible.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for given NCPC the enabling environment to exercise the powers given to the Commission by its enabling Act.

He further lauded the two states that were being airlifted from the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, Cross River state and Ondo state for being part of the current Pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan.

He hinted that similar orientation programme  being   organized at the Victor Attah International Airport, UYo was held in Enugu for the intending pilgrims of Ebonyi State who would join the intending pilgrims of Cross River state and Ondo to make up the third batch of intending pilgrims that would leave the shores of Nigeria tonight to the Holy land of Israel and Jordan.

The NCPC boss further applauded the Governors of the South South for their sponsorship of christians to the Holy land especially in recent time. According to him,” God is using the Governors to advance the Kingdom”.

He explained that this spiritual journey is taking place at the most critical time when the nation is preparing for its general election. His words, ” this is the moment to go and pray”.

He warned the intending pilgrims to shun any tendency to abscond during Pilgrimage as the Commission would stop at nothing to ensure that such absconder is brought to book with the guarantor.

This third batch of intending pilgrims are made up of  Cross River, Ondo and Ebonyi State contingent.

It would be recalled that the Commission commenced the December 2022 Pilgrimage exercise to Israel and Jordan on 16th December, 2022 in Enugu State.

2023: Sovereignty Lies With The People Not Any Leader – Aniagwu

Spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Charles Aniagwu on Friday said ultimate power to elect leaders lies with the people and not the decision of any leader.

Aniagwu who was reacting to the chants of “Atiku, Atiku, Atiku” at Ibadan during the flag-off campaign for the re-election of Governor Oluseyi Makinde said at a news conference in Asaba that the era of leaders deciding who to be voted for was over as sovereignty lies with the people.

He stated that the reaction of majority of the people at the Ibadan rally was an indication that Atiku Abubakar and his running mate Dr Ifeanyi Okowa were the preferred ticket to rescue and rebuild Nigeria from the ruins of the APC-led Federal Government.

“You saw what happened in Oyo State yesterday, when one man tried to ascribe to himself the powers to decide who the people will vote for but the people expressed their democratic right which is  very clear that Atiku Abubakar is their choice.

“We have said severally that our train has left the station but because we have very quality breaks we can always stop to carry hesitant passengers.

“So we will continue to appeal to our leaders, the G-5 governors to sheath their sword and return back to the main fold of the party and join hands with the party to actualize the mission of recovering and rebuilding Nigeria.

“Those who mobilised them did not foresee what they saw and it goes to show that no one man can boast of deciding how the people will cast their votes.

“As we speak I am sure you have seen the level of inflow of people, in this case notable Nigerians from other political parties to the PDP

“We must commend our party faithful in Oyo State for demonstrating that Atiku Abubakar is the right choice for Nigerians.

“We still have time for any of the Presidential candidates who wish to step down for Atiku Abubakar and because we have promised an all-inclusive government they will not be left out as their ideas will be harnessed to achieve our mission of rebuilding this country,” he said.

On the endorsement of Labour Party Presidential candidate by former President Olusegun Obasanjo and elder statesman Chief Edwin Clark, Aniagwu said that the party was not worried as the ultimate power to endorse candidates lies on the people who have already endorsed the Atiku-Okowa ticket across the country.

“As a Presidential Campaign Council we do not begrudge the Labour Party candidate nor the former President, Olusegun Obasanjo on the position taken by the former president.

“Our presidential candidate and his running mate are very much aware from the onset that we were going into a contest with other contestants.

“But we are confident of victory because we have the competitive edge to be able to win because Atiku Abubakar and his running mate tower above other contestants in terms of their experience and antecedents.

“All the candidates have their qualities but like you know in any examination some will score C and some A, both of them have passed the examination but one scored better, Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa are in the A region as far as this election is concerned.

“So if there is an endorsement coming from our former President and Chief Edwin Clark, we recognise that democracy offers freedom of expression as guaranteed in our constitution and if that be the case we do not begrudge anybody endorsing anyone.

“We have already received a whole lot of endorsements from numerous Nigerians who, the ultimate power to endorse resides.

“And because we have continued to interface with the people across the country, most Nigerians understand that Atiku Abubakar and Ifeanyi Okowa tower above other candidates in the contest,” he stated.

Aniagwu stressed that the party would not join issues with anybody castigating the former President or any other person for that matter for speaking out as to their preference.

“What we are interested in is that most Nigerians understand that Atiku Abubakar is in the A region of the endorsement box to be able to bring  us out of the woods

“One thing is that  every Nigerian irrespective of political parties understand the very parlous state of our country whether in the area of the economy, insecurity or our unity.

“Since we all agree that we have these challenges, the only issue we are yet to agree on is how we intend to address them but when you begin to tick the candidates experience and manifestos, Atiku and Okowa have what it takes to take us from our current situation,” Aniagwu added.

Delta Berates Omo-Agege Over Warning To Banks

Delta Government on Friday slammed Deputy President of the Senate and Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over a purported letter warning banks to stop advancing loans to the state government.

Commissioner for Information in the state, Mr Charles Aniagwu who spoke at a news conference in Asaba said Omo-Agege has no right nor powers to stop the government from carrying out any constitutional action.

Aniagwu said the state government operate an open government and have been transparent and accountable to the people in all its financial dealings.

He said that the APC candidate had failed to tell the people what he intends to do but rather resorted to personality attacks on the governor who was not on the ballot with him.

“First of all, Omo-Agege is not in a position to warn anybody. He is not even a Governor-elect. So on what grounds is he issuing warnings?

“Secondly, you recall that the Bridging Finance that we asked for, we followed all the processes. We do not go through the back door if we need any facility nor just go to the banks.

“So it is not the Social Media that you would hear. Any time that there is a need for us to talk about a facility, we follow the process. First, there would be an EXCO approval, upon which we will go to the House of Assembly.
“After we get an approval from the House of Assembly, we also ensure that we observe all the conditions precedent.

“The N100 billion that was approved, we have not finished accessing it, so how can he now wake up to say that we are now asking for N40 billion?

“So if the man wants to campaign, let him go and tell Deltans what he wants to do; not peddling stories that do not add up.

“You have been in this state, there has never been anytime we take any facility without making it public, because part of the processes includes briefing the media at different levels of the process.

“Imaging somebody who is supposed to be the number two law maker in the country, is warning a bank in the state. He does not even know where his powers stop,” Aniagwu stated.

Aniagwu further said when other leaders were with their constituents during the Christmas and New year celebrations, Omo-Agege absconded and travelled out of the country because he was shying away from celebrating with the people.

“He just returned from the oversea trips to fire a wrong salvo and we are urging and advising our brother who forgot that he was supposed to represent us in Abuja.

“All our federal roads in Delta are totally impassable and while others have been busy negotiating what to take home for their  people he was very busy trying to approach the mace of the Senate.

“As a party in the state, we are campaigning based on what have done and on the credibility of Sheriff Oborevwori from the streets of Delta where the yellow revolution is organic in nature.

“We need to remind Omo-Agege that Delta State is home to PDP and if he wishes to contest election in the future he should return to the party and possibly wait until after Oborevwori’s tenure,” he said.

He said it was time to deliver Nigerians from the insecurity, unemployment, poor economy and all that came with the Buhari led administration.

The Party Chairman said no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that PDP gains victory in the coming election.

APC Has Noting To Offer Nigerians- Ofoeyeno

The Director General, Campaign Flow, Engr. Bemigho Ofoeyeno said that the All Progressive Congress (APC), had no good intention for Nigerians.

Speaking with Pressmen during the Aniocha South campaign rally in Ogwashi-uku, he said they were all liars who were out to deceive the masses.

He said APC can not bring the dividend of democracy to the state nor the country, hence Nigerians should not give in to thier tricks again.

He said nothing can be so good as a political party which births same political party candidate, adding that the choice of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was an assurance of continuity.

Ofoeyeno said with Sheriff as governor of the state, some ongoing projects under Okowa’s administration would be completed.

He added that with all the infrastructural development put in place by the state governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in the state, he was optimistic that PDP’s victory at the poll would lead to the Nigeria, all citizens prayed for.

2023: Long Awaited Year of Change For Nigerians, Says Abanum

The year 2023 has been described as the long awaited year of change for every Nigerians.

Chairman, Artisans Association  of Nigeria Delta State chapter, Chief Ifeanyi Abanum made this known to our reporter in Asaba.

Chief Abanum said the year 2023 is the time every Nigerian is expecting for a change in the government of the country.

He said it was time for the People’s  Democratic Party  (PDP) Presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his Vice, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to take over the mantle of leadership of the country

According to him, Atiku and Okowa understands what Nigerians are passing through, narrowing the impact of the state governor on Artisans, he   said that was the reason why they are queuing solidly behind him as a greater future lies for them with PDP.

He said with them, Nigerians would see the light of the day, adding that he was optimistic that they would change the narrative of the country.

2023: PDP’ll Win Presidency Despite G-5 Governors’ Pact With Tinubu – Okowa

Vice Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Governor of Delta, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, said God would determine Nigeria’s next President and not the action of G-5 governors.

Okowa stated this on Friday in Aboh when he led Delta State PDP campaign train to Ndokwa East and Ndokwa West Local Government Areas of the state.

He, however, expressed confidence that the five governors would put the past behind them and work for the victory of PDP in the 2023 general elections.

“God has said it that we the PDP will win this election. Many things may be happening now and people may be asking what about the G-5 governors?

“These governors are our brothers; everybody is important. But what God has said will happen, nobody can change it. So even if some of them decide to support APC, some will still remain with us because there will be division among them.

“The real truth is that I have strong political eyes and I have observed that no matter what they do, PDP will win the forthcoming election, by the grace of God.

“It is only the power of God that can help us to win. So, no matter that the G-5 said that they would work with APC or any other party, we will win.

“We all know that the candidate of APC is not good enough to be our president. Also we know that Labour Party is not going anywhere and we need to sweet talk the party supporters not to waste their votes.

“Those supporters wishing to vote for Labour Party are only indirectly helping APC and trying to reduce the vote of PDP. So, please go and plead with Labour Party supporters to return to PDP and join hands with us to change Nigeria for the better.

“We the PDP are ready to change the so-called previous change. Therefore, everyone should go and get his or her PVC,” he said.

Okowa charged the people to embark on house-to-house, market-to-market campaign to convince the people to support PDP’s rescue mission.

He said the ticket of Atiku and Okowa would bring about economic boom, united Nigeria where the economy would be private sector-driven, and restructuring that would make money available for states and local governments to embark on projects.

“The APC has finished Nigeria. They promised change in 2015 but they have destroyed our dear country with insecurity, hunger and poverty.

“To solve the insecurity challenge, we will amend the Constitution to allow State Police.

“The Atiku-Okowa presidency will restructure Nigeria by allowing states to have more funds and more responsibilities to better the lots of Nigerians.

“We will amend the Constitution to give more powers and resources to states and local governments and we will encourage a private sector-led economy.

“Our economy was doing well prior to 2015, but the APC came and destroyed it again.

“Nigerians are poorer and hungry because the economy is not good and when the economy is not working, there will be no jobs, because it is a good economy that brings industries.

“We have gone round a lot of states in the country and I can assure you that Nigerians have resolved to sack APC,” he stated.

On the governorship election in the state, Okowa said Chief Sheriff Oborevwori and Sir Monday Onyeme had the capacity to build on the foundation laid by his administration, hence the need to vote for them.

He advised the electorate in the state to be circumspect in deciding the candidate and political party to vote for,  saying that those involved in mace rustling would not rule the state.

The Governorship Candidate of the party, Chief Sheriff Oborevwori, said he would complete the ongoing construction of Beneku Bridge and Phase 3 and 4 of Ashaka road if the Okowa administration could not.

He described his running mate, Chief Monday Onyeme, as a reliable, competent and very articulate professional who would bring his many years of experience to bear on the administration.

Oborevwori took a swipe at APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Friday Osanebi, who served under him as Deputy Speaker, as an unproductive and unresourceful lawmaker who contributed nothing to lawmaking in his 12 years in the House of Assembly.

“My dear people of Ndokwa East, your son Friday Osanebi who is the Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC is a failed legislator.

“The capacity of a legislator is known during debates in the House and for almost two years he worked with me as my Deputy Speaker, he never contributed to debates and motions in the House.

“You can check the records of the House in the past 11 and half years, Osanebi presented no bill, no motion and no contribution to debates, all he does is to press his phone while sitting is going on,” he stated

The State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Kingsley Esiso, who presented flags to candidates said the party had cure to all challenges confronting the nation.

“I am very happy because APC days are numbered and PDP is coming on a rescue mission to reset Nigeria

“All over Delta state, our people are happy with the Atiku-Okowa ticket because since the creation of Nigeria no Deltan has ever come close to Aso Rock

“But by the special grace of God and with your support, our dear Governor will become the next Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,”

Director-General of the State Campaign Council, Chief Funkekeme Solomon thanked the people for their assurances and urged them to translate their support into massive votes for the PDP on election day.

Some leaders and stakeholders of Ndokwa nation including Chief Godwill Obielum, Chief George Ugboma, Admiral Mike Onah said the people of Ndokwa nation have resolved to give PDP hundred percent votes from Presidency to the House of Assembly.

At Ndokwa East, hundreds of former members APC led by Henry Omem and Okwechie Ambrose defected to the PDP. They said they were original members of the PDP but were deceived with fake promises to join the APC.

“Today we have seen light, we had been deceived with fake promises and they have turned the country upside down. Today, we have come to say no more APC in Ndokwa East,”
