The Resident Pastor of Living Faith Church, Emevor, Pastor David Omorodion, has urged family members, friends and well-wishers to live purposeful lives that will leave lasting and positive memories in the hearts of others.
Pastor Omorodion gave the admonition while delivering a sermon during the funeral of the late Dave Okpogadie in Emevor, with the message titled, “Be Intentional About How You Live Your Life.”

Speaking from the biblical passage of 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 13, the cleric encouraged the bereaved family and friends to find comfort in God’s word, stressing that grief should not lead to hopelessness but should strengthen their faith in God and the hope of eternal life.
He admonished them to be comforted by the belief that the late Dave Okpogadie had transitioned into another realm, urging them to trust God even in moments of sorrow and uncertainty.According to him, the reality of death should serve as a reminder to everyone to live intentionally, fulfil God’s purpose and make meaningful contributions to the lives of others while they still have the opportunity.
The pastor further drew inspiration from Proverbs 4:18, which compares the path of the righteous to the shining light that grows brighter until the perfect day, encouraging the mourners to remain steadfast in their faith and continue moving forward despite the pain of their loss.
He also referenced Proverbs 14:17 in his exhortation, calling on the family and friends to embrace the spirit of joy, exercise wisdom in their conduct and avoid allowing grief to overwhelm their lives.

Pastor Omorodion stressed that while mourning the departed was natural, it was important for the living to recognise the value of time and the need to live in accordance with God’s will.
He urged the mourners not to lose hope in God but to draw strength from their faith, remain united as a family and continue to pursue lives of purpose, righteousness and positive impact.
The cleric noted that a meaningful life was not measured solely by material possessions or achievements but also by the love shown to others, the lives touched and the enduring legacy left behind.
He encouraged the family and friends of the deceased to reflect on the lessons of his passing and resolve to live lives that would be remembered for their goodness, faith and service to humanity.

Pastor Omorodion concluded by encouraging them to receive the spirit of joy, remain hopeful and move forward with renewed faith, emphasising that living intentionally in God’s purpose was essential to leaving a legacy that would continue to inspire others.

Present at the funeral were the Chief Press Secretary to the Delta State Governor, Sir Festus Ahon; Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Mr Nkem Nweke; the NUJ Chairman, Mr Churchill Oyovwe,  Journalists and friends of the deceased.
