Women across Delta North Senatorial District have received business training, Point of Sale (POS) machines and certificates aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and financial independence under an empowerment programme facilitated by the Senator representing Delta North, Senator Ned Nwoko.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Sir Emmanuel Eboh, the senator said the initiative was designed to provide beneficiaries with sustainable empowerment rather than temporary financial assistance.

He explained that participants were exposed to practical business training, including the principles of successful entrepreneurship, financial management and the challenges associated with running a business.
According to him, the certificates presented to participants after the training would also serve as an added advantage for employment opportunities in manufacturing companies as marketers, producers and other related fields.

“The essence of this programme is to empower our women, not just financially, but through enduring empowerment. They have been taught the fundamentals of business, the pros and cons, and what it takes to succeed. They have also received certificates which can enhance their employment prospects, while the POS machines will enable them to immediately begin small businesses.
“What has happened here today is that they have been taught how to fish for themselves rather than being given fish,” Eboh said.

He added that the programme reflected Senator Nwoko’s commitment to improving the welfare of his constituents by equipping them with practical skills and business opportunities.
Also speaking, the Chief of Staff to the senator, Dr. Michael Nwoko, said the empowerment initiative aligned with the senator’s philosophy of job creation, human capital development and people-centred representation.

He disclosed that over 1,220 beneficiaries, including women, youths, farmers and market women, had benefited from similar empowerment programmes across the senatorial district.
According to him, the senator has also embarked on numerous constituency projects and scholarship schemes in addition to his legislative responsibilities at the National Assembly.
Dr. Nwoko maintained that Senator Nwoko’s achievements within three years in office had earned widespread commendation from constituents.
He said the overwhelming support from beneficiaries and residents reflected appreciation for the senator’s impactful representation and developmental initiatives.

“The distinguished senator has performed excellently within the last three years. His empowerment programmes and people-oriented projects have touched lives across the senatorial district. The people are asking him to continue and consolidate on these achievements,” he said.

The Director of Administration, Hon. Somadina Anwasia, described the programme as a deliberate intervention aimed at improving household incomes and reducing economic hardship.
He noted that empowering women to establish small businesses would not only improve family finances but also strengthen peace and harmony in homes.

“Many family challenges today are caused by economic hardship. When a woman is properly trained and supported to establish a business that complements the family’s income, there will be greater peace, stability and love in the home,” Anwasia stated.
Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation to Senator Nwoko for providing them with the opportunity to strengthen their businesses through the training and empowerment support.

They commended the senator for prioritising the welfare of the people and prayed for the continuity of his developmental initiatives in Delta North Senatorial District.
The programme featured lectures on financial inclusion and business management, while the presentation of POS machines funded by Senator Ned Nwoko and the distribution of awards to beneficiaries formed the highlight of the event.
