… Says Alignment With Tinubu Has Opened More Opportunities For The State
Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has said his administration’s decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) was driven by the need to align the state with the Federal Government to accelerate development and attract greater opportunities for Deltans.
Oborevwori stated this on Thursday at Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, during the flag-off of the Delta APC 2027 election campaign, where he and other party leaders called on residents to massively support President Bola Tinubu, his administration and other APC candidates.
The governor explained that the decision to move to the APC was not taken lightly but followed extensive consultations with stakeholders, stressing that the move was in the best interest of Delta State.
He commended President Tinubu for his economic reforms, noting that increased revenue allocations to states and local governments had enhanced their financial capacity to execute developmental projects and meet their obligations.
Oborevwori also disclosed that 17,500 Delta students had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), encouraging more eligible students to take advantage of the initiative.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education and healthcare, the governor further revealed that the State Executive Council had approved the construction of State Police Divisional Headquarters across the 25 local government areas in preparation for the proposed establishment of state police.
At a subsequent rally in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, Oborevwori appealed to the people of Isoko to demonstrate their love and support for his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, who hails from the area, by voting for the APC in 2027.
He charged party faithful to intensify grassroots mobilisation and ensure victory for all APC candidates across the state.
His wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, also urged the Isoko people to support President Tinubu, her husband and other APC candidates, describing the ballot as a powerful instrument of political expression.
“Your vote is your voice, your strength and your weapon. Use it to vote for APC,” she declared.
Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, said the Oborevwori administration had recorded significant progress in road infrastructure, education and healthcare, urging the people to sustain their support.
The APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, presented party flags to the candidates contesting for various elective positions in Delta South and the Isoko constituencies, calling on members to secure victory at their respective polling units.
Former Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, urged party members to work towards delivering over two million votes for President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, insisting that the party must also win other elective positions.
The Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, acknowledged the economic challenges confronting Nigerians but appealed for patience, expressing optimism that the Federal Government’s reforms would yield better results.
Similarly, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mr Felix Morka, commended the massive turnout at the rally, describing it as comparable to the party’s national campaign. He maintained that the Tinubu administration’s reforms were designed to address the country’s economic challenges.
The Isoko South Campaign Council Coordinator, Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo, and his Isoko North counterpart, Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore, alongside other party leaders, canvassed support for the party’s candidates.
Also speaking, the member representing Burutu Federal Constituency, Hon. Julius Pondi, commended the governor’s commitment to youth appointments and empowerment, while Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, representing Ethiope Federal Constituency, assured the party of women’s support.
Former Delta APC governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay and Ovie Umuakpor also expressed confidence in the party’s prospects ahead of the 2027 elections.
Chief Solomon Ogba highlighted the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Oleh and the planned dualisation of the Oleh Roundabout-Iyede Road as major developmental projects expected to benefit the Isoko nation.
The party flags were presented to Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for Delta South Senatorial District; Hon. Jonathan Ukodhiko for Isoko Federal Constituency; Hon. Lucky Idhove and Hon. Ferguson Onwo for Isoko South Constituencies I and II; and Engr. Orobosa Ashakah and Chief Frank Ozue for Isoko North Constituencies I and II, respectively.
