The leader of the Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman of the State Campaign Council, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, JP, on Thursday, October 22, charged members of the State Campaign Council, stakeholders and party supporters to abstain from character assassination, hate speech and false media propaganda against the opposition and their candidates, a move that has attracted widespread commendation as electioneering activities take shape in Delta State.

The state governor, who is also the National Treasurer of the APC Presidential Campaign Council chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, said the campaign message should be responsible and free from name-calling, while encouraging constructive criticism within acceptable standards of political communication.

For the purpose of clarity, below are the major highlights of the governor’s directives to members of the APC Delta Campaign Council:

Charged members of the Delta State APC Campaign Council to take President Bola Tinubu’s message to the grassroots and mobilise voters across polling units, wards and local government areas ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Inaugurated the Delta State APC Campaign Council and unveiled “MORE Plus” as the theme of his re-election campaign.

Described membership of the campaign council as a call to service, urging members to demonstrate unity, discipline, dedication and commitment to securing victory for Tinubu, himself and other APC candidates.

Urged party members to move beyond rallies and political meetings by engaging directly with the electorate, including market women, youths, workers, farmers and traders, through door-to-door campaigns.

Called on campaign coordinators at the local government and ward levels to strengthen party structures, collaborate with support groups and ensure that the APC’s message reaches every polling unit.

Insisted that the party must campaign on its achievements in government, highlighting the Federal Government’s policies and his administration’s M.O.R.E Agenda, which focuses on infrastructure, education, healthcare, workers’ welfare, youth empowerment and security.

Emphasised the need for party members to effectively communicate the impact of government policies and achievements to the electorate, noting that achievements alone were not enough without convincing explanations.

>>Assured Deltans that political activities would not distract his administration from governance, promising that ongoing projects and development programmes would continue throughout the campaign period.

Appealed to politicians and their supporters to maintain peace, shun hate speech and ensure that political differences did not create divisions within the state
