Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo, Monday, said Governor Sheriff Oborewovri’s quest to grow the infrastructure base of the state shows he is prepared for governance.
Akpowowo, who stated this in Eku, noted that although previous governors namely: Chief James Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa, actually tackled the infrastructural shortage to the best of their abilities, but there was still space for a predecessor to build upon.
He said inter-alia: “ Obviously, the three former governors etched their names in gold. However, in governance, there is always space to improve upon, and that space could only have been noticed by a consentcious administrator, seeking to do something that he could be remembered for a very, very long time.
“ Governor Sherrif has decided to work on the infrastructure base of Delta State, particularly urban areas like Warri, Effurun and Uvwie. The governor is doing well in this regard, and we are confident he will perform better as the administration progresses.
“ The groundbreaking ceremony was done back in November 2023, which means work had officially commenced in full blast. And we are confident that the job will be completed at the specified time.”
The deputy speaker added: “ This particular achievement was one of the major highlights when he clocked 100 days in office. Though as of that time, the agreement was not signed, but following the signing of the agreement late October and subsequent groundbreaking in November, it has been accolade all over the state. Even Pa. EK Clark, the trenchant critic of successive administrations gave Oborevwori more than a pass mark. It takes so much to get an accolade from Pa Clark….”
Rt Hon. Akpowowo noted that Governor Sheriff Oborewovri was on the right path of history and if supported effectively, he would leave Delta better than he met it.
