The Chairman of Ethiope West Local Government Council, Chris Onogba, has presented the 2026 budget to the legislative chamber in Oghara, describing it as a comprehensive document reflecting the collective needs and aspirations of the people.

Speaking during the budget presentation, Hon. Onogba emphasized that the fiscal plan was not driven by personal interests but by the pressing demands of constituents across the local government.

“The whole essence of the budget is a compendium of the interests of everybody on whose account I stand as chairman. That is the summary,” he stated.

According to him, the council undertook an extensive needs assessment across communities in Ethiope West to identify priority areas requiring government intervention. He noted that the process enabled the administration to align available resources with the most critical needs of the people.

“We have gone around to assess the particular needs of the people in view of what we are able to provide. So we have put the interests of everybody together that is the meaning of the budget,” he added.

The chairman reiterated that governance at the local level must remain people-oriented, stressing that public office is a trust bestowed by the electorate.

“That budget captured the interests of the people, not my personal interests, because this office is held in trust for the people back home. On this mandate, I am here as chairman,” Onogba said.

He further assured that his administration remains fully aware of its responsibility to deliver policies and programmes that will improve the welfare of residents.

“I and my team are not oblivious of the fact that people sent us here. Everything we do, all our policies, are tailored towards providing happiness for the people,” he noted.

Reiterating his commitment, the council boss declared, “For the purpose of emphasis, our budget captured the interests of everybody. Everyone matters in Ethiope West.”
