The appearance of Distinguished Senator Ovie Omo-Agege at the 2nd Delta APC Stakeholders’ Meeting has been described as a defining moment for unity and progress within the party, marking a new chapter in Delta State politics.
The event, held on 23rd January 2026 at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, was filled with excitement as party leaders and stakeholders witnessed the arrival of the former Deputy President of the 9th Senate.
His presence immediately drew attention, following months of political speculation surrounding his silence after Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the entire Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) structure in the state defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in April 2025.
Observers had widely interpreted Senator Omo-Agege’s silence as uncertainty over the new political alignment in the state. However, signs of reconciliation emerged earlier when both leaders met at a marriage ceremony in Delta State, where Senator Omo-Agege publicly acknowledged Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as the leader of the APC in the state, an act that many described as symbolic and reassuring.
That reconciliation was firmly sealed at the stakeholders’ meeting when Senator Omo-Agege took the microphone and declared his readiness to work with Governor Oborevwori to advance the development of Delta State.
Senator Agege’s statement was met with loud applause, signalling broad acceptance and renewed confidence within the party.
Reacting to the development, the Director General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, congratulated Delta APC family on what he described as a historic reunion between two of the state’s most influential political leaders.
According to Oghenesivbe, the decision by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to close ranks underscores political maturity, statesmanship, and a shared commitment to the progress of Delta State above personal or partisan differences.
He noted that the reunion reinforces a fundamental principle of politics, that there are no permanent enemies, only permanent interests, and emphasized that unity within the APC is crucial for delivering good governance and sustainable development to the people of Delta State.
Oghenesivbe expressed optimism that the renewed partnership would strengthen the APC’s internal cohesion and position the party to effectively drive policies and programmes that will benefit all Deltans.
He concluded by commending party leaders and stakeholders for embracing reconciliation and urged all members of the Delta APC to remain united in support of Governor Oborevwori’s administration and the collective vision for a more prosperous Delta State.
