The Traditional Ruler of Ugboba Kingdom in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State, HRM Obi Ezedimbu Emmanuel Nkebakwu III, has been nominated for the prestigious Silent Heroes Award in Traditional Leadership.

The nomination was made available to Anioma Trust through the official release of Silent Heroes, indicating that among the list of performing young Kings in the country, Obi Nkebakwu came highly recommended as a result of his glaring community efforts, targeted at evidence based development in Ugboba Kingdom.

According to the Chief Executive Officer of Silent Heroes Award, Mr. Odita Sunday, “We are very careful and meticulous about who we give our awards to, including Traditional Rulers. However, from various quarters we contacted to nominate a performing and responsible Traditional Ruler for this award, majority pointed in the direction of Obi Ugboba.

“We further made our investigation before zeroing in on the same Monarch. We feel proud that we can still get his type in this time and era when it is even much more difficult to get satisfactory nomination from Traditional institutions.

“For proper analysis, this particular king has strong passion for humanity and, he is a king loved by his people. Those were our look out and we got more of them in this man that has done more than miracles to place his community on a progressive trajectory since taking over the reign of the throne of his forebears in 2016. We have seen what he is doing in his community, and his people speak highly of him; that is all that matters for a nomination to be accepted”, Odita posited.

As the award presentation date, billed for Abuja is being awaited, Anioma Trust did carry out an opinion poll to ascertain people’s assessment of the king with regards to deserving the honour of an award of this magnitude.

The poll appeared clearly positive, as all the opinions affirmed that the soft spoken London trained Monarch eminently deserves the award.

We equally reached out to him (Obi Ezedimbu Emmanuel Nkebakwu), and he confirmed receiving a letter for the award.

He was appreciative of such platform that seeks to honour him, maintaining that he was truly glad and would continue to uphold the sanctity of the institution of royalty by keeping to the sacred heritage of his forebears.
