…Charges State Bureau on Delta Value Charter Awareness, Citizens Responsibility
The Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has been commended for the massive infrastructural projects, and positive socioeconomic remodelling going on across the state, and within the Delta State Capital Territory.
The Director-General, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Mr. Patrick Ukah, gave the commendation when the
Director-General of the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, led his Senior Management Team on a courtesy visit to the agency.
He affirmed that Delta State Capital Development Agency, has achieved a lot in the past one year under the present administration, saying that several internal roads in the state capital have either been rehabilitated or constructed to connect various communities and streets for ease of transportation of goods and services.
Ukah noted that the three senatorial districts and the state capital are dotted with mega projects under governor Oborevwori in terms of funding of durable roads infrastructure and City beautification, adding that the agency will continue to partner with stakeholders to enforce sanitation laws for the attainment of quality hygiene and healthy environment for all.
According to Ukah, “A lot is happening in the state. We now have a public cemetery under private public partnership in the state capital, an international market at Abraka axis of Asaba, vehicles parking lots under construction, a cleaner environment, a corrective waste management process, lots of road construction projects,’ while assuring that the Waste-to-Wealth Projects, WWP, will soon be launched in the state capital.
Ukah urged the new management of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, under the leadership of Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, to commence state wide advocacy to project the Delta Value Charter, and Citizens Responsibility Code, so as to resonate with the State Identify crafted in the Delta logo, featuring five stars representing the five major ethnic nationalities united to attract massive development, promote peaceful coexistence, unity and progress among the people.
He further stated that the Bureau of Communications and Orientation has a lot of sensitization visits to carry out to re-orientate the minds of the people, advising the Bureau to embark on aggressive public enlightenment campaigns to traditional rulers, market women, Schools, professional bodies and other stakeholders across board, to drive the state value charter message to the target audience, especially people at the grassroots.
He described the Delta State Logo as an embodiment of our true identity, which tells our story in colourful dimensions and multifaceted ways, noting that rotation of power currently in place via the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has confirmed our collective resolve to remain united for our common good.
Ukah said the state logo is a symbol which depicts Delta as rich in oil, hard work, industry, knowledge, sportsmanship, agriculture, arable land, hospitality and unity in diversity.
Earlier, the Director-General of Delta State Bureau of Communications and Orientation, Dr. Fred Oghenesivbe, said he was on the visit to tap from the wealth of experience and knowledge of Mr Ukah, as the Bureau commences plans to popularize the New Delta Identity Project and the Delta State Value Charter.
He condemned the high rate of criminal activities and social vices across Nigeria, such as; yahoo-yahoo, drug abuse, demonization of education as a scam, irresponsibility in general, poor parenting, political apathy, among others, adding that the state governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, recently approved a state wide sensitization campaign on drug abuse tagged: Drug Free Delta.
Dr Oghenesivbe called on Deltans from all walks of life to exhibit attitudinal change by imbibing the right moral values of discipline, hard work, patriotism and respect for one another for a better society, while commending the state governor for leading by example, as practically demonstrated in his commitment to deliver quality and durable projects that would stand the best of time.
He tasked Deltans, especially the youths to promote patriotism, integrity, professionalism, mutual respect, ethnic and religious tolerance, harmonious co-existence and unity among the citizens, assuring that these positive virtues and values shall be embedded in all advocacy messages and materials of the Bureau through traditional and new media platforms, and in all sensitization campaigns from community to community across the three senatorial districts.
He disclosed that the Delta State New Identity Project is in three aspects, namely the Bureau’s Mandate, Delta Value Charter and the Citizen’s Responsibility Code, adding that the State Orientation and Communication Bureau has mapped out strategies to sensitize the people on value orientation in line with the MORE Agenda of governor Oborevwori.
While commending the DG, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Mr Patrick Ukah, for his contributions in developing the state capital territory through his agency under Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, he added that he scheduled the visit to seek full interpretation of what the Delta State Logo represents, partner with him in the area of branding, advocacy strategies, research and development, going forward.
“Your tenure as Commissioner for Information in the first tenure of the immediate past governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, CON, was remarkable. You started the new identity for Delta, and also supervised the design of the state new Logo.
“You are a veteran in branding, and your achievements for Delta is there for all to see. You brought super innovations and placed Delta far ahead in terms of identity and value orientation. We can’t forget your tenure in a hurry. You are a team player and a detribalized Deltan. Thank you Sir.
“We shall continue to visit you from time to time as we embark on state wide advocacy to popularize the New Delta identity which you pioneered, project the Delta Value Charter and the State Citizens Responsibility Code.
“In the next couple of days, we shall engage major stakeholders, do a presentation to the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, factor in his inputs and then we shall collectively do a comprehensive presentation to the Governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, who will in turn launch the new Delta Value Charter campaign.
“You assured us that you will keep your doors opened. We deeply appreciated you Sir, we shall be back whenever the need arises, ” Oghenesivbe assured.
