Sen. (Chief) Ighoyota Amori, PhD, Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, is set to lead the 2026 Niger Delta Cultural Thanksgiving Day this Sunday, having served since June as Coordinator of the Niger Delta Ethnic Harvest for the second year running, the planning committee have confirmed.
According to the press release issued by his Public Relations Officer, Mr. Joelson Wilson, the event, themed “Harvest of Abundance,” is scheduled to hold by 9am on Sunday, 13th September 2026, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Airport Road, Benin City, and will bring together indigenes, well-wishers, and stakeholders from across the Niger Delta region for a day of thanksgiving, cultural celebration, and communal solidarity.
Sen. Amori’s reappointment marks the second consecutive year he has been entrusted with coordinating the annual celebration, following his widely commended stewardship of the 2025 Ethnic Pre-Harvest Thanksgiving, an outing many participants described as one of the most memorable and successful editions of the event in recent years.
Since his appointment in June 2026, Sen. Amori has worked tirelessly alongside the planning committee and stakeholders to put the finishing touches to arrangements ahead of Sunday’s event, coordinating donations and rallying support to ensure a seamless and befitting celebration.
Speaking as final preparations reach completion, Sen. Amori expressed gratitude to the Parish and reaffirmed his commitment to the region’s cultural values.
“It is a profound honour to once again be called upon to coordinate this cherished celebration of our heritage,” Amori said. “The Niger Delta Ethnic Harvest is more than a thanksgiving service; it is a reminder of who we are as a people: resilient, grateful, and bound together by shared history and shared destiny. Over the past months, we have worked tirelessly to ensure that this year’s edition, themed ‘Harvest of Abundance,’ lives up to the expectations of our people, and I am confident it will be a resounding success. So many things have taken place this year and God has been faithful in them all”

Amori has continued to build a reputation as a bridge-builder within Delta State’s political and cultural landscape, actively supporting initiatives that promote unity, heritage preservation, and grassroots engagement across the state. His consistent involvement in the Niger Delta Ethnic Harvest reflects his broader commitment to preserving indigenous traditions while fostering goodwill among communities within and beyond Delta State.
