The Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, has cautioned political opponents against spreading false information surrounding the recent attack on the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, Mr. Temple Mudi, warning that such misinformation could undermine the peace and political stability of the state.
Aniagwu, who addressed journalists in Asaba on the incident, described attempts to politicize the attack as unfortunate and capable of creating unnecessary tension among residents. He urged individuals and groups to refrain from circulating unfounded allegations aimed at portraying the incident as a reflection of the state’s political disposition.
The Commissioner stressed that Delta State remains committed to peace, unity, and democratic governance, noting that the administration of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori would not allow divisive narratives to derail the harmonious relationship existing among the people.
He emphasized that the state government remains supportive of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and warned against efforts by political actors to create a false impression capable of disrupting that relationship through deliberate misinformation.
According to Aniagwu, security agencies have been handling the matter professionally, and investigations should be allowed to run their course without interference from those seeking political advantage.
He called on politicians and members of the public to exercise restraint, verify information before sharing it, and avoid inflammatory statements that could heighten tensions or mislead the public.
The Commissioner reaffirmed the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to maintaining law and order while ensuring that those responsible for the attack on Mr. Temple Mudi are brought to justice through due process.
Aniagwu further appealed to Deltans to remain peaceful and continue supporting government efforts aimed at sustaining security, political stability, and development across the state.
