Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has called on parents and guardians to place greater priority on the welfare, education, and moral upbringing of children as Nigeria marked this year’s Children’s Day celebration.

The governor made the appeal in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, in commemoration of the annual celebration dedicated to promoting the welfare and rights of children.

He emphasized the need for parents and guardians to instill sound moral values in children while ensuring they are protected from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other social dangers that could affect their future.

According to the governor, investing in children through quality education, healthcare, and protection from abuse and exploitation would help secure a brighter future for society.

The governor further encouraged children to remain disciplined, focused on their studies, and committed to positive values that would prepare them for leadership roles in the future.

Children’s Day is celebrated annually in Nigeria on May 27 to honour children and promote awareness of their rights and welfare.
