The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has sustained its intervention cleaning exercise across major roads and drainage channels in Asaba, in a renewed effort to improve environmental sanitation and enhance the aesthetic appeal of the state capital.
The exercise, which commenced on Tuesday and is still ongoing, is covering several strategic locations within the metropolis, with personnel of the Agency deployed to clear overgrown vegetation, sand, litter, silt and other debris obstructing roads and drainage channels.
Among the areas being attended to are the link road between Maryam Babangida Way and DBS Road, Anwai Road from the Government House Gate to Camp 74 Junction, DBS Road and the link road between DBS Road and WAEC Road, as well as Jesus Saves Road.
The intervention also includes the clearing of the Squash Club Road Drain and NTA Road drains, while resultant silt, debris and other waste materials are being evacuated and transported to government-approved dumpsites for proper disposal.
The exercise is being supervised by the Director General of the Agency, Mr Patrick Ukah, and the Head of Environment, Mr Isaac Nwosu, who have continued to monitor the operation to ensure that the identified areas are properly attended to.
The intervention is part of the Agency’s sustained efforts to promote a cleaner and healthier environment, improve the functionality of drainage infrastructure and contribute to the overall development and beautification of the Delta State Capital Territory.
The exercise will continue across other identified locations as the Agency remains committed to maintaining environmental standards and ensuring a cleaner, safer and more aesthetically pleasing Asaba.
