Heavy rainfall has caused severe flooding in Lugbe, Abuja, leaving motorists stranded and disrupting movement along parts of the Federal Road.
The downpour reportedly overwhelmed drainage channels in the area, with floodwater spreading across the roadway and making passage difficult for vehicles.
Thousands of motorists were said to have been caught in the resulting traffic gridlock, with several vehicles unable to move as the floodwaters covered sections of the road.
The situation has raised fresh concerns over drainage infrastructure and flood preparedness in the Federal Capital Territory, particularly as Abuja has experienced flooding and motorists being stranded following heavy rainfall in recent weeks.
Residents and road users are urged to exercise caution and avoid attempting to drive through deep floodwater where possible, as such conditions can endanger lives and damage vehicles.
The flooding also comes amid renewed calls for urgent attention to road infrastructure in Lugbe, where residents have recently appealed for the rehabilitation of priority roads in the area.
Authorities are expected to monitor the situation and take steps to ease traffic and prevent further disruption as rainfall continues across the FCT.
