The Multiple Council Chairperson of Lions Club International, Multiple District 404 Nigeria, Ibrahim Jide Bello has stressed on the importance of unity and teamwork, reminding members that collective effort remains the key to lasting impact in society.
Bello made this known while declaring open the 19th Multiple District 404 Nigeria Convention of Lions Clubs International in Asaba.

Addressing Lions, Leos, government officials, traditional rulers, corporate partners, and delegates at the opening plenary of the convention themed “Building Bridges of Service and Unity,” the chairperson called on members to strengthen unity and deepen their commitment to humanitarian service across the country.
The council chairperson said the gathering was more than a routine meeting, describing it as a platform for rebuilding hope and advancing community impact.

He stated that the convention theme was timely, as it reflects the need to connect districts, bridge vision with action, and restore hope to vulnerable communities through collective service.
According to him, Lions and Leos throughout Nigeria have continued to prove that service is not an event but a lifestyle, with visible impacts in healthcare, youth empowerment, humanitarian relief, and environmental sustainability.
He also commended district governors, past leaders, government representatives, traditional rulers, sponsors, and partners for supporting the organization’s humanitarian mission and strengthening service delivery across the country.

Speaking the host district governor, DG Robinson Omonigho-Okoro, the annual event offers delegates the opportunity to take critical decisions that will affect the future of association of volunteers as well as purposeful leadership development training.
He highlighted some of the organization’s interventions, including eye care programmes aimed at restoring sight, diabetes awareness campaigns, emergency humanitarian assistance, and leadership development initiatives for young people.
He noted that Lions Clubs International in Nigeria has become “a pillar of hope in communities where hope was fading,” through sustained service projects and community outreach efforts.

Earlier the Local Organising Committee Chairperson, Her Excellency Ezinne Katherine Onyeme described the theme of the years Convention “Building Bridges of Service and Unity“ as not just a statement but a call to action.
On her part, the Convention Chairperson, PDG Patricia Udeme commended members of the Club for their passion and service to others.

In his words, the Leo Multiple District President, Leos Adeleye Adeniyi, charged members of the Club, to see themselves as the leaders of today.
Adeniyi added that their energy, courage and unity is an assurance that the future is in safe hands.
