Manchester City are reportedly close to appointing Enzo Maresca as their next manager, following claims that the former Chelsea coach has reached a verbal agreement with the club.
According to reports, Maresca has emerged as a top choice to replace Pep Guardiola, with discussions said to have progressed to the stage where a three-year contract is being prepared. However, neither Manchester City nor the Italian coach has officially confirmed the deal.
Maresca, who has been gaining recognition for his tactical intelligence and rapid progress in coaching, is believed to be highly valued within the Manchester City football structure.
Reports suggest his appointment would continue the club’s established possession-based playing style, rather than introduce a major tactical change.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on social media that Maresca has agreed terms verbally with Manchester City and is set to sign an initial three-year contract, describing it as the beginning of a “new era” at the club.
Despite widespread speculation online, the agreement has not been officially completed or announced, and the final decision still depends on formal confirmation from the club.
If eventually confirmed, Maresca’s arrival would mark a major managerial transition at Manchester City as the club prepares for the possibility of life after Pep Guardiola’s long and successful reign.
