A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Jesse in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief John Obukohwo  Nani has described his invitation by Zone 5, Benin city and Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Sapele as politically motivated action to keep him out of circulation for the March 18 Guber and State House of Assembly elections in the state.

Chief Nani, who stated this in his country home of Jesse while briefing the press said that he received a letter from zonal headquarters of the force that he was the architect of political tension in Jesse.

He stated that there was no political tension in the community, adding that the allegation was baseless and untrue but as a result of the fact that he was  working for the victory  of the candidate of PDP in the Governorship election , Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as the Delta Central Coordinator of the PDP Campaign Organisation.

Chief Nani ,who said that Jesse had continued to be  peaceful, alleged that before now a  political Power broker from the local government and a National leader of Delta PDP told him that he would ensure that he Nani was kept out of circulation during the election.

The PDP Chieftain , however, explained that he was briefing the press to inform the whole world that whatever happened to him, this leader  and the Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo Agege would be held responsible.

He further stated that  all key supporters of PDP and mobilisers who were leaders of the party including the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the party, who is a woman were invited by the police, stressing that he had written a letter to zone 5 and Sapele Area command that he would honour their invitation on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 after the election.

He said that everybody in Jesse was free to vote for any party and candidates of their choice, expressing optimism that the outcome of the election would reflect the will of the people. Chief Nani urged supporters of his party not to be intimidated but to come out and vote in the election.
