A suspected internet fraudster has been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command following the alleged killing of his girlfriend in Edjeba community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident reportedly occurred at the suspect’s residence on Ajidi Street, Edjeba, sending shockwaves through the community.
According to information the landlord of the compound alerted the police after hearing a loud distress call from the suspect’s apartment.
Police officers who responded to the scene reportedly searched the apartment and discovered the victim’s body. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and is currently assisting investigators.
Reacting to the incident, members of the community described the act as barbaric and called on law enforcement agencies to ensure justice is served. They also urged young people to seek peaceful ways of resolving relationship disputes rather than resorting to violence.
The Delta State Police Command is expected to issue an official statement as investigations continue. Authorities have appealed to members of the public to remain calm and allow the investigative process to run its course.
Confirming the incident, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, said the suspect had been arrested and remains in police custody while investigations continue.
Police authorities have assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that justice is served.
