Members of the Oshimili South Local Government Area chapter of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors have been charged to take the mantra of one party, one message, one mobilisation, to the grassroots in order to keep the people well informed of the policies of the APC government.
The Delta State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Chief Funkekeme Solomon; gave the charge in Asaba while addressing members of the Oshimili South chapter of the group.
Hon Solomon, a former Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, said the Tinubu administration had done, and was still doing a lot that many Nigerians appeared to be ignorant of, stressing that the Renewed Hope Ambassadors owed it a duty to sensitise the people on the policies of government, why they were introduced, and the gains.
He revealed that the engagement was to equip and empower the Renewed Hope Ambassadors with the knowledge that would enable them to deliver on their mandate of marketing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori as ambassadors of the party.
The Ojobo, Burutu-born politician took some time off to explain some of the policies of Mr President, which were necessitated by the state of the economy when he assumed office, and for which the Country was rated as the world’s headquarters of poverty.
Dwelling specifically on the removal of fuel subsidy, Hon Solomon pointed out that only a few individuals benefitted from the huge sums of money paid for subsidy, leaving the greater percentage of Nigerians with bitter experiences of unavailability of petroleum products, long queues at filling stations, and a boom in blackmarket sales, which were now things of the past.
The Coordinator added that subsidy removal had also led to government at all levels having enough resources to deliver dividends of democracy to the people, including high quality road and other key infrastructural projects, regular payment of salaries and pensions, amongst others, which was not the case in the previous administration.
He credited the Nigerian Students’ Loan Scheme, from which over 30,000 Delta students had benefitted, to the Tinubu administration, saying that every student desirous of pursuing his education could now do so on interest-free loan and pay back when gainfully employed.
On security, Hon Solomon said President Tinubu had given approval for the introduction of State Police, with a call on the National Assembly to amend the Constitution to accommodate it, describing the measure as an indication of the President’s commitment to community policing, and the broader national security.
The Coordinator urged the people of Oshimili South, especially the non indigenes, to support the APC and its candidates, so that the overflow in the delivery of good governance, from which they had benefitted, would continue beyond 2027.
In his remarks, the Oshimili South LGA Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Sir Tobechukwu Okonkwo; thanked the State Coordinator, Rt. Hon Funkekeme Solomon; the Delta North Senatorial Coordinator, Chief Patrick Ukah; party leaders at the LGA and Ward levels, the Oshimili South Council Chairman, Hon. Dr. Kelvin Ezenyili; the Vice Chairman, Hon Mrs. Chinye Uso; stakeholders and party faithful for their presence.
Sir Okonkwo revealed that in pursuit of its mandate, the Campaign Council had painstakingly selected representatives in the 319 units in the LGA who would help to drive the mantra of one party, one message, and one mobilisation, pointing out that more members would be drafted into the unit executives in the coming weeks.
He solicited the cooperation and partnership of the various groups in the LGA with the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, including the ruling party, the APC, emphasising that the task ahead required the collective engagement of critical stakeholders for the desired success to be achieved.
The LGA Coordinator urged the people of Oshimili South to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027, as it would open up opportunities for some political leaders in the area to be appointed to positions in Abuja, describing his election as a topmost priority that must be made to fly.
Sir Okonkwo added that it was also important to deliver others, including the Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori; the Senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly candidates, in order to have an unbroken circle and enjoy the full benefits of governance from the centre.
The event featured goodwill messages from the Senatorial Coordinator, Chief Patrick Ukah; party leaders, including Chief Edwin Uzor, Hon Shadrack Rapu, Prof Leroy Edozien, Ogbueshi Adizue Eluaka, Ogbueshi Taju Isichei, Alhaji Muktar Usman, Hon. Chinye Uso, Barrister IK Maduemezia, Engr. Smart Meka , Ogbueshi Chukwufumnanya Onianwa, and the Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government, Hon Chief Kelvin Ezenyili; PhD.
In attendance were representatives of the non indigenous community, the City Boys Movement, NURTW, Tricycle Operators Association, Market Women Association, amongst others.
