The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has dismissed as false and misleading reports circulating on social media and in some sections of the media alleging that its Director-General, Mr. Patrick Ukah, was involved in the train accident that occurred in Agbor, Delta State, on Monday.

In a statement issued by the management of the Agency, the DSCTDA described the reports as “completely false, baseless, and a fabrication,” urging members of the public to disregard the claims.

The Agency clarified that Mr. Ukah was neither on board the train nor involved in the unfortunate incident, stressing that the publication linking him to the accident was a clear case of misinformation.

According to the statement, the spread of the unverified reports had caused unnecessary panic and emotional distress to the Director-General’s family, friends, associates, government officials, and members of the public.

The DSCTDA condemned the dissemination of false information and called on media organisations, bloggers, and social media users to verify facts before publishing or sharing reports. It also urged those responsible for the misleading publications to immediately retract them.

While expressing sympathy to the victims of the Agbor train accident and their families, the Agency reaffirmed its commitment to truth, responsible communication, and public service.

The statement further advised the public to rely only on official communications from the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency for authentic and verified information regarding its activities and leadership.
