Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has congratulated Nigerians on the occasion of the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, expressing optimism that the nation’s democratic journey would usher in greater prosperity and development of the country and all citizens.
In a message marking the June 12 celebration, Oborevwori commended Nigerians for their resilience, patriotism, and commitment to sustaining democratic governance despite the challenges facing the nation.
The governor described Democracy Day as a significant milestone in Nigeria’s political history, noting that it serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by heroes and heroines who fought for the entrenchment of democratic rule in the country.
Oborevwori said democracy remains the best form of government because it guarantees the people’s right to participate in the governance process and promotes accountability, transparency and the rule of law.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering meaningful development across Delta State through his MORE Agenda, while calling on residents to continue supporting efforts to build a more prosperous and inclusive society.
Oborevwori wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Democracy Day celebration and urged them to remain hopeful and united in the collective quest for national progress.
