The Executive Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Area, Hon. High Chief Ezenyili Kelvin Obi (PhD), has declared that no individual or group has the authority to block public roads without the approval of the Local Government, describing such actions as unacceptable and contrary to the rule of law.
The Chairman made the declaration during a strategic security meeting with security chiefs and operators across the local government area, convened to strengthen security coordination and address issues affecting public safety and free movement within the council.
Hon. Obi expressed concern over the increasing cases of unauthorized road blockages by individuals in some communities, stressing that public roads must remain accessible at all times. He directed security agencies to ensure compliance with the directive, warning that anyone found obstructing roads without official authorization would be held accountable.
He reiterated that his administration remains committed to maintaining peace, safeguarding lives and property, and promoting unrestricted movement across Oshimili South, noting that all security-related actions must be carried out within the confines of the law.
The Council Chairman also apologized to participants for the delayed commencement of the meeting, explaining that he was unavoidably engaged in urgent official assignments before joining the session. He appreciated the patience and understanding of the security chiefs and other stakeholders.
The meeting reaffirmed the Oshimili South Local Government’s commitment to working closely with security agencies and community stakeholders to uphold law and order, improve public safety, and ensure a peaceful environment for residents and businesses.
