The President of De-Crown Women Association, Delta North Senatorial District, has announced plans to commemorate the association’s 20th anniversary, describing the milestone as a celebration of two decades of championing women’s empowerment, grassroots mobilisation, and socio-political development across the district.
In a statement, the President, Dr. Mrs Theresa Allanah said the anniversary which would take place on Sunday, July 19th, 2026 would highlight the association’s remarkable contributions to promoting the welfare and participation of women in governance, community development, and economic advancement since its establishment.

She explained that De-Crown Women Association is a non-governmental socio-political organisation that brings together women from across the nine local government areas of Delta North under one umbrella, irrespective of birth, age, social status, religion, or cultural background.
According to her, the association operates through local government coordinators who oversee activities in their respective councils and appoint ward leaders to ensure that its programmes and initiatives effectively reach women at the grassroots.

Reflecting on the association’s achievements over the past two decades, the President said De-Crown Women Association has remained steadfast in its commitment to eliminating gender disparity in the economic, social, and political lives of women while promoting unity and cooperation among women of diverse religious and cultural backgrounds.
She noted that the association has consistently encouraged the active participation of women in governance and public affairs through advocacy, civic education, leadership development, and community engagement.

The President further stated that the organisation has continued to raise awareness among women on their rights, responsibilities, and roles in nation-building, while also motivating and supporting credible and qualified Deltans to actively participate in governance, politics, policy formulation, and socio-economic reforms.

Dr. Mrs Allanah described the forthcoming anniversary as an opportunity to celebrate the vision and sacrifices of the association’s founding members, honour past and present leaders, and appreciate partners whose support has sustained the organisation over the years.
The President reaffirmed the association’s commitment to expanding its programmes on women empowerment, leadership development, grassroots mobilisation, and community service, stressing that De-Crown Women Association would continue to collaborate with government and relevant stakeholders to advance inclusive development and improve the lives of women across Delta North Senatorial District.

She called on members, supporters, and the general public to participate in the 20th anniversary celebration, expressing confidence that the association would continue to build on its legacy of service, unity, and advocacy for a more inclusive and prosperous Delta State.
