Chairman of the Delta State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Joseph Otirhue, has strongly commended the performance of the Delta State administration, saying the state would have suffered serious developmental setback if Deltans had made a different electoral choice in 2023.
Speaking ahead of the governor’s third anniversary in office, Otirhue said Oborevwori’s emergence as governor marked a turning point in governance and development across Delta State, warning that without his leadership, the state risked stagnation for decades.
“If Deltans had made the mistake of not voting for Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in 2023, the state would have gone backward for another 20 years,” he said, stressing that the governor’s administration had redefined governance delivery across key sectors.
According to him, many critics initially underestimated Oborevwori’s capacity before he assumed office, but his performance over the last three years has, in his words, “proven them wrong beyond doubt.”
He explained that projects under the administration’s MORE Agenda are now visible across all 25 local government areas of the state, particularly in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and human capital development.
“Today, Delta State is agog with developmental strides. There is virtually no sector the governor has not touched,” Otirhue added, noting that the scale of ongoing projects has changed public perception of governance in the state.
The commission chairman also highlighted improved synergy between the state and local government councils, saying the governor’s performance has created healthy competition among council chairmen in service delivery.
He further pointed to the implementation of the new minimum wage at the local government level as a major achievement that has improved workers’ welfare and eliminated salary backlogs.
Otirhue expressed confidence that more projects would be completed before the end of the governor’s first tenure, adding that support for Oborevwori’s re-election remains strong across the state.
He described the governor as “a rare leader” whose administration has restored confidence in governance and positioned Delta State as one of the leading subnational economies in the country.
