Senator Ned Nwoko has sponsored over 30 bills, moved more than 25 motions, and facilitated 58 constituency projects within two years of representing Delta North Senatorial District in the 10th Senate.
This was contained in a detailed report highlighting the lawmaker’s legislative interventions, constituency projects, and policy advocacy since his inauguration into the National Assembly.
According to the report, Senator Nwoko’s legislative agenda has focused on security, constitutional reforms, healthcare, economic development, and institutional strengthening.
Among the major bills sponsored by the senator is the proposed creation of Anioma State, which has successfully passed first and second readings and completed zonal public hearings. Also advancing through the Senate is the bill establishing the National Agency for Malaria Elimination, alongside legislation compelling social media companies to establish physical offices in Nigeria.
The report noted that two major education-related bills sponsored by the senator have already passed third reading. These include the establishment of the Federal College of Agriculture, Idumuje-Ugboko, and the upgrade of the Federal College of Education (Technical), Asaba, to a Federal University of Technology.
Other bills sponsored by the senator cover diaspora voting, local government autonomy, foreign currency salary payments, self-defense firearm ownership, establishment of an orthopedic hospital in Onicha-Ugbo, and the creation of a National Talent Rehabilitation and Integration Agency.
Additionally, the senator proposed 15 other bills awaiting listing on the order paper, including legislation on ranch development across the country’s 774 local government areas, youth entrepreneurship grants, visa-free entry for African Union passport holders, and mandatory military service for youths.
On motions, the report stated that Senator Nwoko moved more than 25 motions addressing national issues such as crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, gas flaring, insecurity in Abuja, separatist agitations, healthcare reforms, and the termination of over 317 staff members by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
One of the senator’s major legislative achievements was the restoration of the Aniocha North II State Constituency. The process, which originated from a legal battle beginning in 2014, received fresh momentum after Senator Nwoko sponsored a motion adopted by the Senate on March 11, 2025. The House of Representatives later concurred with the resolution on May 15, 2025.
The report also highlighted Senator Nwoko’s intervention in the release of traditional ruler, King Clement Ikolo, following the Okuama crisis, as well as his advocacy regarding suspects linked to the illegal arms factory discovered in Onicha-Olona, where four individuals were reportedly released after engagement with security authorities.
On constituency projects, the senator was credited with executing and facilitating 58 projects across the nine local government areas of Delta North.
The projects include school renovations, ICT centres, medical outreach programmes, water supply schemes, solar-powered street lights, agricultural support initiatives, roads, drainage systems, mini sports facilities, and empowerment programmes for youths and women.
Infrastructure projects captured in the report include the construction of 1-kilometre, 1.5-kilometre, and 2-kilometre roads in several communities, installation of transformers, construction of boreholes, and development of water supply projects across Delta North.
Healthcare interventions include medical outreach programmes conducted across the nine LGAs, renovation of health centres, and supply of drugs to selected primary healthcare facilities.
The report added that empowerment initiatives under the senator’s office covered training programmes for youths, women, farmers, livestock producers, and cassava processors, alongside the distribution of grinding machines, sewing machines, mini buses, and farm implements.
The document described Senator Nwoko’s first two years in office as marked by aggressive legislative engagement, strategic advocacy, and targeted constituency development initiatives across Delta North.
