The incoming Chairman of Seplat Energy Plc, Mr Tony Elumelu CFR, has expressed gratitude over his appointment, pledging to provide strategic leadership as the company enters a new phase of growth beginning in January 2027.
In a statement, the Chairman-designate said he was honoured to succeed Senator Udoma Udo as Chairman of the Board, describing the appointment as a privilege and an opportunity to help steer Seplat Energy through its next chapter of expansion.
He reaffirmed his belief in the vital role indigenous energy companies play in driving the economic transformation of Nigeria and Africa, noting that Seplat Energy’s culture of strong execution, corporate governance, and operational excellence aligns closely with his personal values.
“I am honoured to succeed Senator Udoma Udo as Chairman in January 2027 and to lead the Board through Seplat Energy’s next phase of growth,” he said.
The incoming Chairman also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Chairman, Senator Udoma, and Roger Brown for their leadership and stewardship of the company, promising to build on the foundation they have established while creating greater value for shareholders.
He further congratulated Mr. Effiong Okon on his appointment as the new Chief Executive Officer, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the company successfully.
According to him, Mr. Okon’s extensive experience in the energy industry positions Seplat Energy for sustained growth and continued success in the years ahead.
The leadership transition is expected to take effect in January 2027 as Seplat Energy continues to strengthen its position as one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous energy companies.
